Cool lights (as opposed to hot lights, tungsten) are increasingly being used in large format professional digital photography.

Cool lights are generally fluorescent lighting, but not the fluorescent lamps used to light offices. Instead the fluorescent lighting for digital photography uses special tubes made especially for professional photography.

Videssence is the company best known for its fluorescent lighting for television studios around the world. Now it turns out that this same kind of lighting is ideal for digital photography. After all, the CCD chips in the cameras do not like heat of any kind.

ZBE makes the top-of-the-line repro stand (copy stand) overhead scanners, for scanning flat work or 3D objects. ZBE selected Ice Lites from Videssence.
